Dr. HV DeVore of this city died at Indianapolis where he had been taken for treatment on April 1, 1892 of paresis after a long sickness. Deceased was a son of Jerry and Julia DeVore of Owen County and was a native of the county named. He was in the 38th year of his age, and before his sickness he was one of the prominent and successful physicians of this city. Deceased was a student of DePauw University and afterwards graduated from Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia. He leaves a wife and son to mourn the loss of a loving husband and kind father, besides a host of relatives and friends. The funeral took place on Saturday, Dr. Town and Rev. A. Hurlstone conducting the services. Note: Buried Oak Hill Cemetery, Crawfordsville 1854-1892 – large stone. Husband of Allie O. Evans

Dr. H.V. DeVore died at Indianapolis where he was undergoing treatment for brain trouble on Friday morning before day. Dr. DeVore was one of the most prominent physicians of Greencastle up to two years ago.  He was a native of Owen County and after receiving his diploma practiced medicine in this city regularly.  He was very talented and was an honorable and upright citizen. His age was 38 years and he leaves a widow and son to mourn his loss.  The funeral occurred Saturday morning from the family residence on East Washington Street, Rev. Harlstone and __ and the Masonic fraternity conducted the services.
